Localising a Global Solar Brand for European Markets

Solplanet

Connecting global brand direction with local market communication across Benelux and DACH.

From brand localisation and campaign planning to digital content, product communication and major industry events, I helped translate a global solar brand into relevant, consistent communication for European audiences.

The Situation —
A global brand entering a diverse European market.

In 2022, Solplanet was growing its presence in the European solar market.

The brand already had a global identity and product portfolio. The challenge was making that identity work locally.

Different markets had different audiences, communication habits and business needs. Installers, distributors and partners needed communication that felt relevant to their market — while the brand still needed to look and feel like one Solplanet.

I joined a small marketing team to help bridge that gap.

The Challenge

  • Keep the global identity consistent
  • Adapt messaging and visuals to local audiences
  • Support different market and product needs
  • Create consistency across digital and physical touchpoints
  • Work with limited in-house resources
  • Connect marketing, sales, product and technical teams
  •

My Role —
Marketing Specialist · Brand & Visual Designer

I worked across strategy, localisation, campaign execution and visual communication — connecting the needs of marketing, sales, product and engineering with the global brand direction.

01 — Brand Localisation
Adapting visuals, messaging and tone for local European markets.

02 — Campaign Planning & Execution
Planning and delivering integrated campaigns across digital and physical touchpoints.

03 — Cross-functional Collaboration
Working with marketing managers, sales teams, engineers and external suppliers to connect creative ideas with business objectives and technical accuracy.

04 — Communicate Translate technical products and messages into clear marketing materials.

From Global Brand to Local Market—
Translating the brand without losing its identity

Localisation happened across multiple touchpoints — from social media and product communication to brochures, promotional materials and event visuals. The work included:

  • LinkedIn and Instagram communication
  • Product launch materials
  • Brochures and flyers
  • Promotional kits
  • Event communication
  • Localised visual content
  • Campaign messaging

From Campaign Idea to Event Experience —
Making the campaign feel like one connected experience

We built visibility and anticipation through digital communication, including social content, campaign visuals and product-related messaging.

The aim was to give people a reason to notice Solplanet before they reached the booth.

Before the event

We built visibility and anticipation through digital communication, including social content, campaign visuals and product-related messaging.

The aim was to give people a reason to notice Solplanet before they reached the booth.

At event

The same communication direction continued into the physical experience.

I worked on and supported the creation of:

  • Event visuals
  • Product communication
  • Promotional materials
  • Merchandise and promotion kits
  • Social content
  • On-site communication

The booth therefore became more than a physical space. It was another touchpoint in the wider campaign.

Across the experience

The important part was the connection between these touchpoints.

A visitor might first encounter Solplanet through a social post, then see the campaign at the event, discover a product at the booth and continue the conversation with the sales team.

The visual language, message and experience needed to feel connected throughout that journey.

That was the role of the campaign: to connect brand → campaign → product → people.

From Technical Information to Customer Communication —
Making complex products easier to understand

Working in solar also meant working with technically complex products and information.

I collaborated with engineers, product teams and sales colleagues to understand the information behind the products and translate it into communication that could work for customers and partners.

This included turning technical information into:

  • Product communication
  • Campaign content
  • Social media posts
  • Brochures
  • Event materials
  • Visual explanations

For me, visual communication started before the design.

It started with understanding what we needed to communicate, who needed to understand it and why it mattered.

Connecting Teams and Touchpoints

Because the team was lean, the work often moved across different functions.

I worked with:

  • Marketing
To shape campaigns, content and brand communication.
  • Sales
To understand customer and partner needs and support commercial conversations.
  • Engineering & Product
To make sure technical information was accurate and understandable.
  • External Partners & Suppliers
To turn concepts into finished materials and experiences.

This made my role a combination of strategic thinking, marketing execution, design and coordination.

The Impact —
From Visibility to Connection

  • The work helped connect global brand direction with local market communication across Benelux and DACH — creating a more consistent brand presence across digital campaigns, product communication and industry events.
  • +21%
    Event-cycle leads over two years
  • 14+
    Partnerships developed
  • Benelux + DACH
    European markets supported

Beyond the numbers, the experience strengthened the connection between brand, marketing, sales, product communication and customer-facing experiences.

What I Brought to the Project —
From Visibility to Connection

Strategy thinking + marketing execution + visual communication

Working inside a growing international technology company taught me to look beyond the final design.

  • A campaign is not only a social post.
  • An event is not only a booth.
  • A product brochure is not only a layout.

Each touchpoint needs to connect back to the same business objective, audience and message. That is where I bring value: moving between the bigger picture and the details, and connecting strategy, marketing and visual communication to make the whole experience work together.
