Background Story: Localizing a Global Chinese Solar Brand for the European Market
In 2022, Solplanet, a fast-growing solar energy brand, set its sights on the European market. The challenge was clear yet complex: how to feel local without losing its global identity. From language and tone to design and channel strategy, what worked in one region didn’t always resonate in another.
That’s where I came in. As part of a small but driven marketing team,I supported the marketing manager and led the brand localization efforts across Europe, “adapting visuals, messaging, and tone for local installers en distributors”. Our strategy centered around Intersolar Europe, the continent’s largest solar event, where we delivered a unified brand experience that combined on-site engagement with integrated digital campaigns.
The Challenge: Global Brand, Local Voice,
Solplanet needed more than just translation — it needed local relevance. The challenge was twofold
Make a global brand feel local across diverse European markets without losing its core identity.
- Maximize visibility and engagement—both online and at flagship events like Intersolar Europe with limited in-house resources.
To achieve this, we had to bridge teams across marketing, sales, and product, maintain design and messaging consistency across every touchpoint, and adapt storytelling to resonate with each regional audience.
🎯 My Role: Strategy, Storytelling & Execution
As a Marketing Specialist & Designer, I wore multiple hats that served as both brand guardian, hands-on creator and campaign coordinator . I led the localization of Solplanet’s global identity for the European market (mainly Benelux and DACH regions), ensuring the brand didn’t just translate, but truly resonate.
In this project, I combined strategic insight, creative direction, and on-the-ground execution to build consistent, engaging, and market-relevant communications across digital and on-sites channels.
1. Led brand localization across Benelux and DACH markets, refining visuals, messaging, and tone to align with local cultural nuances through LinkedIn, Instagram, brochures, promotional kits, and event visuals.
2. Developed, planned and executed integrated campaigns that connected digital and on-sites touchpoints—seamlessly aligning social media, event activations, and content strategies into one cohesive brand experience.
3. Designed and produced end-to-end communication assets, including event visuals, merchandise kits, animated graphics, brochures, and digital content—ensuring brand consistency, clarity, and visual impact across all channels.
4. Acted as the connector, collaborating with the marketing managers, sales teams, engineers, and external vendors to align creative strategy with business objectives and technical accuracy.
